At the used bookstore the other day, I saw a copy of the new-to-me "Art Masterpieces in 3-D" by L. C. Casterline. Even though I collect 3D books, and I particularly like books with built-in viewers, I flipped through and it was TERRIBLE. Yes, it's 3D, but it's what they call "planar" each level of depth was flat. So if you had a boat on a river, the boat was like a cutout held in front of a background of a river. Somewhat proud of myself that I didn't buy it anyway.

Book 20 of 2024.
Sometimes you have to dance with who you brung. I love TR but was bamboozled into buying a compendium of short works which I had to force myself to finish. Give me a Cowgirl romp or a Skinny Legged Jitterbug any day. This Back into the pile with you.

The perpetrators of injustice should be named' - Dhoombak Goobgoowana translated as truth-telling
Melbourne "universitys continued commemoration of individuals discussed in this book prolongs trauma. Correcting history by merely adding the long-suppressed details of the fatal impact of the colonial mission on tens of thousands of Aboriginal people is rightly regarded as an insufficient response. Finding an honourable solution including renaming must involve telling the whole truth about history."
The perpetrators of injustice should be named, and their roles in historical events fully recounted. However, merely deleting their names from buildings, rooms, courtyards and roads, and not explaining why, compounds the injustices with further acts of denial."
This kind of truth-telling is necessary if our community is to prevent the repetition of commemorative rituals that honour racists, thieves and body snatchers. Denying parts of our history is simply lying. And this is why racism persists. The lying in Australian history the lying about Australian history is one of the major contributors to racism. - Marcia Langton

A woman-led mystery set in the Jazz and Prohibition era of 1920s America. While the main character, Vivian, leads us on a tight, dark, and dangerous mystery, the characters surrounding her also come alive in the book. It is always a pleasure to find a well-drawn cast of characters...

I have noticed in the past few years that I really struggle to get into new . My TV watching is pretty much limited to rewatching something in the background as I work. Otherwise I read a or play a . I have no idea what the reason is but I don't think it is the ignorant "modern TV sucks" mindset because even I can see it doesn't really suck. I used to enjoy sitting down to a good TV show. Maybe I'm just weird.

Post depression is real.
I finished the series by Naomi Novick last night and I still feel a sense of sadness that the adventure is over.
