QSFer SI Clarke has a new queer sci-fi box set out: Devon Island Mars Colony.

Bringing together two novels and two short stories, this is a work of neurodiverse, culturally diverse, gender-bendy, socio-politico-economic, drunken-arguments-in-the-pub science fiction not bang-bang-pew-pew science fiction.

Today's review! Song of Howls by M.D. Grimm:

"Venya spent her life neglected, considered ugly and not worth any time or effort... The characters are wonderful... Filled with danger, romance, sex, surprises, a wolf pack and two sisters ready willing and able to fight for what they want. 4 stars"

I had to double check this, but it's true. The Penetrator starring Mark Hardin is a real series of novels.

I don't know how long this will last, but just in case it is music to anyone else's ears like it was to mine: currently Amazon and Kobo for the UK have Timothy Snyder's ebook On Tyranny for sale for 0.99:

Mark didnt think much of the love blah, but he watched the villain getting more villainous, and the hero getting more heroic, and patiently waited for them to slug it out.

Hello, again! Heres a new young adult called EIGHTEEN ROSES by Shannon CF Rogers that is out now!

It's so nice to have a mystery in the form of multiple correspondences, that's not a murder mystery. I'm getting the implication that it's a financial crime that's happening in here, though right now it's hard to tell.

What I gather so far at the page 150 mark, is everyone in the cast either are unreliable narrators unintentionally, or just lie a lot. Which in the context of this being a puzzle book, it works. Cringeyness is part of its charm.

My theories so far:

Tish is dodgy, but she might be legit. A huge element is Tish is in a sub sub sub specialised field in a field I'm otherwise familiar with, but this sub sub sub specialised funding is my massive personal blind spot. I think her approach to the experimental treatment is reckless, and how she handles the funding is asking for fraud squad to knock on her door but she might just be legit.

Isabel is giving me the strongest Martha Scott vibes, yet she seems to be the only person who picks up significant inconsistencies that's pretty important. She's astute in a lack of awareness way: which makes me wonder how much of other people's behaviour was knowingly complicit to a fraud to the local kingpin family.

Sarah-Jane is a pathological liar and lowkey (midkey) predator, worsened by so far her excuse is she's got an ethical excuse as she's fund raising for a child with cancer. I think she's in it for some significant secondary gain, even though at this point I haven't figured out what it is.

Samantha is potentially more fucked up than Isabel. I think she's Clive Handler. I don't know if she's really in it for financial gain, or she just really enjoyed making the world burn. I don't know what her end game is.

Martin, I think he's definitely got financial difficulties with his business, and he's trying to syphon crowd sourced medical fund into his failing business. I suspect he's in collision with some of the other members, though I think Sarah-Jane most likely to not be in the core groups for this particular thing.

What I'm sus about:
1. Does Poppy really have this specific medulloblastoma, or is Tish cooking up an elaborate hoax with the family for financial gain

2. Are the people writing the emails truly consistently writing under their email accounts Isabel specifically seems to have constantly changing perception and narrative style, almost like she's intermittently unhinged based on the persona of her needs at the time.

XOeditions Jean Renoest connu pour ses diffrents rles en tant quacteur. Quelle surprise de le dcouvrir crivain ! Et, encore plus tonnedtre si agrablement surprise par son Emma, digne dune hrone de roman despionnage

Diferentes y diversos relatos rescatados del olvido escondido.

Interesantes, divertidos y nostlgicos. He saboreado estas reliquias encontradas del autor, es poco lo que me queda por conocer de su obra. Pero un agradecimiento muy fuerte a los arquelogos que han rescatado estos primeros textos donde se puede intuir la semilla de la obra del maestro.

I'm not a great thinker about football. Most stats and tactics go over my head, but I often mentally refer to this book. Shame about the reference to Arsenal on the cover, though

The Lepidoptera of Ceylon by Moore, Frederic, 1830-1907

I just finished reading My Beloved Monster by Caleb Carr, this is a must read for all out there, actually anyone who has/had a pet. I admit I got teary eyed (ok I bawled like a baby).
