Thank you for all your support! I wrote a book! It's the story that's been floating around my head for years. I wrote it to geek out with other people about how much I enjoyed seeing it play out in my head. Available here:

Hmm. I admit I have not read the . There is the obvious Foucauldian element happening. As someone who comes from that sub-population where is a very real thing, I find the connections she makes in her video for the book to be rather offensive.
There are many other ways to discuss power and mass without equating it to treatments for . It is . I was fortunate enough to decline ECT. speaks from ignorance.

Nice summer . From Taylor Jenkins Reid, the author of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which I thoroughly enjoyed, Carrie Soto Is Back tells a story of a tennis player's career. How she gets to the top, and how to decide when to stop. Reminded me of some brilliant players, like Martina Navratilova and Serena Williams. I'm not even into tennis, but I enjoyed the thrill of the games described and the story of hard work and perseverance.
From a short of profound, at times, aphoristic meditations that I picked up at a local :
A true letter can produce a transformation in the other person, and therefore in the world.
But before it produces a transformation in the other person, it has to produce a transformation within you.
The time you take to write the letter may be your whole life.

by and I'm on around page 45-50 or something.
So far it's good but the story hasn't begun proper yet.
But on one of the pages the characters are asking about Diti, who isn't present.
Then suddenly there are a couple of mentions of Diti as if she's present, and (unless there's some other reason I'm missing) it's basically typos where 'Diti' was written instead of 'Binta'
And I wonder: How many people proofread this but didn't spot it
My second book of this autumn's Rentre Littraire in French, and it's a powerful one. In "Triste Tigre", Neige Sinno writes about the sexual abuse she experienced as a child at the hand of her stepfather. Sinno found an original approach in dealing with her memories, a kind of writing style and tone that is both detached and personal.

Finished the of Never Seduce A Scot by Maya Banks. This is a repeat for me. The heroine is deaf and the age is before sign language. Middle Ages Scotland also means violence, a lack of modern healthcare, and forced marriage. Recommend it.

"Easy to devour in one sitting, this tongue-and-cheek account of a BMI-obsessed society is both laughable and cringe-inducing. THE FATNESS is a story of socialism gone wrong it's set amid a plausible backdrop with witty characters who will steal your heart and, snag your cheeseburger if you're not careful." IndieReader.com
