The Phoenix Suns are hoopin but what else do they need prior to the deadline

I'm halfway through and can just say it's a really good read. Really, really good.

You would be thinking that it might be boring or riddled in details. Not so. A very good read indeed.

Loyalty in Death (In Death, #9), by J.D. Robb, My rating:5 out of 5 stars, Read from: 01/30/2024 - 01/31/2024.

Book description: #1 New York Times bestselling author J. D. Robb's phenomenal series has captivated readers with it tantalizing blend of romance, suspense, and futuristic police procedural. Now, New York cop Eve Dallas returns to face her most ingenious foe -- a "secret admirer" who taunts her with letters...and kills without mercy. LOYALTY IN DEATH An unknown bomber is stalking New York City. He is sending Eve Dallas taunting letters promising to wreak mass terror and destruction among the "corrupt masses." And when his cruel web of deceit and destruction threatens those she cares for most, Eve fights back. It's her city...it's her job...and it's hitting too close to home. Now, in a race against a ticking clock, Eve must make the pieces fit before the city falls.

DELICIOUSLY TWISTY 21st CENTURY GOTHIC has a thrill a minute, a house to die for, and a wealth of sharply drawn characters. Shades of Daphne du Maurier (which I mean as a high compliment)! B PLUS

People ask me, "how do authors keep their ideas straight"

Well, I hope that seeing behind the curtain doesn't take too much of the magic away.

I Chains by S J Rowe ( 1/Hounds of the Reaper MC). This MC anti-cop has violence/assault against the FMC, childhood trauma, & other triggers. I don't think I will be the rest of the series but it wasn't bad - I just didn't get the relationship & was turned off by some of the characters.

pour servir by Cuvier, Georges, baron, 1769-1832 Audouin, Jean Victor, 1797-1841-

It's easy to forget how good a book can hook you when you haven't read in awhile. Now I just find myself wanting to continue, but my lunch break is well and truly over.

14: Averil Offline by Amy Noelle Parks -- a well-thought-out story about two tweens longing for some independence in an app-happy, helicopter-parent world. THanks to the publisher for the review copy.

13: After Annie by by Anna Quindlen -- an emotionally strong and authentic feeling look at a family in mourning. Thanks to the publishers for the review copy.

11: Maude Horton's Glorious Revenge by Lizzie Pook. I liked the period details, but it was only an okay read for me. Thanks to the publishers for the review copy.

10: The Boy Who Cried Bear by Kelley Armstrong -- I always enjoy a good Casey and Eric story, and this one doesn't disappoint.

Thanks to Macmillan Audio for the review copy

I am happy and excited for 2024. Because, today, I decided what my next book will be!

It will be about the intersection of R and Graphics! Let's start writing

I finished reading by Marcus Buckingham last weekend. This book was a reading advice from my HRBP.

Nine Lies About Work questions the principles of management / leadership today as most of these practices are decades old and not fit for purpose anymore. Employees know this, managers know this and yet collectively companies often dont do a lot about it.

The nine lies are:

  1. People care which company they work for
  2. The best plan wins
  3. The best companies cascade goals
  4. The best people are well-rounded
  5. People need feedback
  6. People can reliably rate other people
  7. People have potential
  8. Work-life balance matters most
  9. Leadership is a thing

What I like about this book is that its very practical and down to earth. Every chapter in the book is around a lie. Each lie that is discussed follows the same pattern in that chapter:

Ive added this book to my that advise others to read too.

Today's indie author review!

Maryann reviews "Alms" by Dusk Peterson, in the The Three Lands - Empty Dagger Hand omnibus, part of the larger "Chronicles of the Great Peninsula":

"A heartwarming story of new friendships. Its short but holds a wonderful meaning, a clear and precise character-driven which gives the reader a glimpse into Dusk's alternate world."

This book review by Heidi A. R. Rhodes makes me SO excited to read Jemima Repo's The Biopolitics of Gender (2016).

"Repo endeavors to agitate the idea of gender as a "major object and analytical tool of contemporary Western feminism" that has been naturalized as a discursive and historical fact in science, politics, and government."
